The highlight of our stay on the lake, was a visit to the island of Isola Bella.
| As the (Google Earth) photo shows, the island is almost completely covered with a Palazzo and gardens, construction of which started in 1632 and was completed in 1671.
Lake Maggiore is the second largest lake in Italy. It is 68 km long and stretches over the border into Switzerland. (As always, click on the photograph to open a larger version.) |
